3/30 & 3/31/2020 Direct Object and Indirect Object Pronouns. Study the notes on pronouns in the Grammar packet in your notebook. Then complete the sentences on these pages. OBJECT PRONOUNS notes.docx PRONOMBRES repaso.docx
Okay, let's try this again. I see that several of you are struggling with the pronouns. First, review the notes I sent. Then consider this explanation:
Direct Object Pronouns - How do you spot a direct object in English? Start with the verb and ask the question who or what. It is the same in Spanish. The first one A1 says Tú perdiste las llaves. You lost the keys. You lost ...what? the keys. You lost them. Them refers to the keys. Therefore, "Tú perdiste... what? las llaves." The correct Direct Object Pronoun for las llaves is "las". So the answer is "Tú las perdiste." Instead of saying “you lost the keys”, we are saying “you lost them.”
Indirect Object Pronouns - How do you spot an indirect object in English? Start with the verb and ask the question to or for whom or to or for what. It is the same in Spanish. Let's look at B3. It says "Presentamos los regalos a Raquel." We present the gifts to Raquel. We present the gifts … to whom? "to Raquel". We present the gifts to her. Her refers to Raquel. Therefore, "Presentamos los regalos ...." to whom? "a Raquel." The correct Indirect Object Pronoun for Raquel is "le". So the answer is "Le presentamos los regalos." Instead of saying “we present the gifts to Raquel”, we are saying “we present the gifts to her.”
I hope this helps.
4/1/2020 More Direct Object and Indirect Object Pronouns practice. You will replace the noun with the pronoun in each sentence. You do this all the time in English without thinking. Instead of saying "I already did my homework." You simply say, "I already did it." It replaces homework. You throw out the word homework because you don't need to have both "it" and "homework" in the same sentence. There is a logical place to put "it" in the sentence. In English the pronoun "it" comes after the conjugated verb. In Spanish the pronoun usually comes before the conjugated verb. dop wb101-102.jpg dop wb p 138.jpg dop wb102.jpg

4/2/2020 More Indirect Object Pronouns practice. You will replace the noun with the pronoun in each sentence. Instead of saying "I gave the book to my sister." You simply say, "I gave her the book." “Her” replaces “my sister”. In English you throw out the word “my sister” because you don't need to have both "her" and "my sister" in the same sentence. In Spanish you can only use “her” or you can keep both “her” and “my sister”. Both ways are correct. “Di el libro a mi hermana.” Can be expressed as “Le di el libro.” Or as “Le di el libro a mi hermana.” Both are correct. Realidades3 wb80.jpg Realidades3 wb81.jpg
