2019-20 Douglas County High School Freshman Academy

Operation 4GReady!

Goals – Grades – Grind – Graduation

Goals—Goals and aspirations are the cornerstones of success. Here at DCHS, our teachers, leaders, and support staff work ceaselessly to help ninth grade students craft personalized goals that are well-planned and success-oriented. Ultimately, students are expected to transition into a variety of post-secondary experiences including higher education, specialized training, military service, and the general work force. As a Tiger, no goal is too broad, no dream is too big, and no ambition is out of reach.  Your first goal should be to maintain excellent grades!

Grades—Academic success reflects hard-work, perseverance, integrity, and determination. When you set realistic goals and work with determination, higher grades are only one example of what you will achieve. At DCHS, we are committed and equally determined to provide you with support, mentorship, resources, and relationships to guide your success. Success is not easy, and one of the best ways to stay focused is Grind!

Grind—Ninth grade is a steep transition, and the success of that transition rests upon guidance. One of our most steadfast goals at DCHS is to help students develop routines that will help them navigate the complexity of high school and all of the opportunities available. Ultimately, every student at DCHS has the opportunity to be successful. There is no better way to celebrate that success than graduation!

Graduation—Freshmen, you are the class of 2023! As teachers, leaders, and support staff, our goal is graduation in four years. Douglas County High School has a deep, rich history of success. With engaged parents, focused students, and supportive staff, Tiger Freshmen will truly be the class of 2023. Go Tigers!

The Freshman Academy is specifically designed to serve our newest Tigers and their families.  During the 2018-2019 school year, 9th-grade EOC exams (Literature & Algebra I) exceeded growth expectations and were more than 10 percentage points above the state average.  We want this to be an equally successful year, and we want to continue to grow!
