CLEAR BAG POLICY AT ALL ATHLETIC EVENTS
DCSS has a clear bag policy at all sporting events. The policy will be similar to policies in place at college and professional stadiums and coliseums.
The clear bag policy will help us keep dangerous or illegal items, including weapons, out of our venues. By allowing only clear bags, we can monitor what's coming into our stadiums and gyms and keep everyone safer with only a minor inconvenience to those in attendance.
The following types of bags will be permitted inside DCSS sporting events:
- Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12"x6"x12"
- One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags
- Small clutch bags, with or without a handle or strap, that do not exceed 4.5"x6.5"

AMERICAN RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE AT DCHS
The American Red Cross works tirelessly to help get blood products to everyone in need, particularly individuals who have Sickle Cell Anemia by creating the Sickle Cell donor scholarship Initiative. Having African American and minority students and staff donate blood during our drives afforded DCHS the opportunity to compete to win a scholarship. DCHS was one of 10 schools in the Country to win a $5000 scholarship during the 2022-2023 school year.
Scholarship recipients must be a student of high academic and moral integrity, one who assists in blood drive recruit, and one who is interested in pursing a career in the healthcare industry. Consuela Borders exemplifies all of those and more. She is also a working Certified Phlebotomist who completed the program under Mrs. Flemister’s teaching and training in May 2023. Ms. Georgia Thomasson will represent the DCHS Healthcare Science Department on behalf of Mrs. Flemister November 14th along with Consuela. Overall, it's a great example of how communities, schools, and organizations can come together to support healthcare initiatives and encourage students to pursue careers in this field while helping those in need.
Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Awards Jonas Cullen at Senior Night

Important message for parents and caregivers:
The designated area for morning carpool and afternoon pick up is located in front of the Steele Building accessible by Selman Ave. Parents should not drop off and pick up students in the stadium lot, the Cloer Building, nor the bus lane. There are two student parking lots available only to those students who have paid for their assigned spot: Stadium lot and Front Parking lot.

When students are present daily, their grades and reading skills often improve—even among those students who are struggling in school. Students who frequently attend school feel more connected to their community and develop strong social skills and friendships, which are important skills for life. Please help get your scholars to school by 8:20. The teachers and staff have planned engaging lessons to help your child acquire the skills and knowledge they need to excel.
High School hours are 8:20-3:10.
Daily punctual attendance is strongly encouraged.
